Shiekh delegation leaves Chitral to Nooristan to seek release of the Greek national
CHITRAL: A delegation of the Muslim community of Bumburate valley left Chitral for Nooristan area of Afghanistan to seek the safe release of the kidnapped Greek national Athunasius here on Friday. The spokesman of Kalash community Wazirzada Kalash told chitraltimes.com that the delegation was led by former union nazim of the valley Abdul Majid and a religious leader Qari Abdus Saboor. The delegation, he said, will involve the local elites of Nooristan to liaise between them and the kidnappers. He said that the Muslim community of the valley called Shiekh had migrated to the valley from the Nooristan area and as such great hopes are pinned with the delegation all of whom belonged to Shiekh clan. He said that the captors of the Greek have yet to express their motive behind the kidnapping and their demand. Regarding the physical condition of the kidnapped person, he said that while crossing the Afghan border he was safe and sound as some shepherds described who had been commandeered by the kidnappers to carry him on their back. He said that the delegation will reach Bargamatol area of Nooristan and the jirga is expected to be held by Saturday. Meanwhile, the district police chief Muhammad Jaffar Khan has constituted a special team to probe about the incident of kidnapping and ensure the release of the kidnapped. The team consisted DSPO Chitral Muhammad Sabir, SHO Ayun Zafar Ahmed and two sub-inspectors.
