WHLIslamabad—To the good fortune of Kalash people, the government of Pakistan has finally moved to take long-awaited measures for the preservation of Pakistan’s rare tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Following the repeated demands from the endangered community and a comprehensive deliberation held on Wednesday at Lok Virsa, the concerned officials eventually nodded their heads and agreed that Ministry of National Heritage & Integration would propose UNESCO to enroll Kalash on the World Heritage List.

An unknown illness become Killer of many animals in Kalash valleys

Kalash 15 February 2012. Kalash Times learn that goats have got some unknown illness and died in many regions in Kalash valleys. Mr. Zahir Shah a resident of Krakal village Kalasha valley Mumuret (Bumburate) told this subscriber today. He added ‘suddenly more than 25 goats died in Biriu valley where my goats were staying for winter. Some unknown illness became a killer of a lot of goats in whole Kalasha valleys such as Bumburate, Rumboor, Birir, Acholga. Kalasha people are worrying about their ships and goats. People of the valley complains about this sensitive issue, so on the behalf of Kalasha community, The Kalasha Times would like to draw attention live stock department of Chitral to find out some solution in this concerns. It’s feared that the illness may spread into other areas soon. Indeed people need help to cope the situation. Government and other NGOs should consider this problem in order to prevent more economic lost of the community.

Indigenous Winter Sports Festival 2012 Started in Kalash Valleys

Kalash 15 Feb 2012. IWSF 2012 opening ceremony started with the name of Dezau (Creator, Allah) and oath taking ceremony held. Mr. Ishfaq Ahmad Sagar started first talks on behalf of IWSF 2012 executive committee then Mr. Bakhtawar Shah Director event management brief both teams, at the end Mr. Luke Rehmat executive director IWSF 2012 red out terms and conditions and told both teams to follow the rules in order to make it huge success and avoid any conflict during the game. Brun team Coach Noor Shahidin and Captain Faizi Khan and Anish team coach Adul Khan and Captain Muhmmad Umar signed the oath papers and accepted terms and condition. A team included 24 members. IWSF 2012 snow golf started in Kalash valley Mumuret at Sarikjaw ground. In first round Brun vs Anish village matched played, and Brun won the match securing 9 points. While the Anish hardly made1 point. The match was started at 11 AM and concluded at 4 PM. The snow golf will continue for 8 days. For latest updates check out IWSF 2012

Bumburate Museum Bumburate

P1030015A beautiful architect building is build by C & W Construction Department Khyber Pakhtunkhaw. Government contractor Mr. Khalil-u-Rahman and showcase contractor Mr. Zahiz Iqbal said that, after completed construction of the building C & W will hand over it to the Directorate of Archeology & Museums KPK Pakistan, point is we have one Kalasha Museum as well in Kalasha valley Bumburate Brun, built by Greek volunteer, so far it only presents the unique culture of Kalash.

Some staff they brought form Hindukush too but the main character is Kalash culture, here we have three more important cultures like majority of Muslim Khow culture, Noristani Culture a migrated people from Afghanistan Nooristan, and Gujur culture.Bumburate Museum is biggest effort by Directorate of Archeology Department of KPK.

Rehmat Wali’s Art and New Trend of World Cup!

 

Cricket is getting famous every where in the country and youth from Kalash valleys are also taking part in this game very actively. In this regards Rehmat Wali a disabled person is contributing differently. He made a unique wooden world cup 2011 for a cricket tournament and interesting thing is that he become chief guest on the occasion. The final match was played between Anish and Kalashgrom. The players from Kalashgrom took advantage of their home ground and won the final match. During chief guest speech Rehmat Wali said ‘’although I made the world cup but I am really sad it returned to my village I felt disappointed on this occasion’’. It was not easy to come down from the mountains where Rehmat live, but his courage is showing that he is very active member of the country who is contributing a lot to his family and making soft image of Pakistan as a unique artisan.

Cawmos Festival Concluded in Rukmu and Purification days started in Mumuret valley

Kalash 19 December 2011: Cawmos concluded in Kalash valley Rukmu, mean while Kalasha Times got news that Mr. Wazir Zada married with Zahir Gul she was engaged last year. Mr. Ajab Khan runs away a girl from Balanguru village.

Cawmos is happening in Kalash valley Mumuret where the important days of purification have started yesterday with blood sparkling on the Kalasha males while women did Shis’u. Interestingly for the young children aged 4 to 8 were wearied traditional dress in a ceremony called ‘Bhut sabihak/Gosnik’ for a whole night people were making and cooking walnut breads for the maternal uncles and the villagers. The families offered fruits, dry fruits and walnut breads with traditional gift Shuman to the uncles and in returned they uncles gave goats and sheep to the children. After bhut Sabihak ceremony if anyone dies then his death body will be buried same like adults otherwise without funeral festival. This ceremony gives certain rights to the new member of the family in Kalasha custom. During these purification days no one from outside will be allowed to enter Kalasha villages shake hands with Kalasha people, even Kalasha men who is out and could not participate the purification day on 18 cannot join the festivities but there is a chance if he sacrificed a goat and purify himself then he is allow to join the festivities otherwise he must stay outside till 21st December 2011.
